Vivian | Princeton University — Neuroscience
Vivian received her undergraduate degree in Biology from a leading university in China and is currently a first-year PhD student in the Princeton Neuroscience Institute.
In this session, she will share her experience applying to neuroscience PhD programs, including her academic and research background, program selection, application preparation, and interview process.
Angela | Johns Hopkins University — Neuroscience
Angela graduated from UC San Diego with a double major in Neurobiology and Data Science. She joined the Johns Hopkins Neuroscience PhD Program directly after graduation in Fall 2023.
Her research interests center on neurological disease. Her previous research has included glioblastoma, spina bifida, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and Alzheimer’s disease (AD), and her current work focuses on ALS- and AD-related pathology.
Having received substantial support during her own application process, Angela hopes to pay that support forward by sharing what she learned. She will also discuss an important aspect of PhD training beyond the application itself: how to evaluate lab culture and choose a supportive research environment during rotations.

The session will include experience sharing from both speakers followed by an open Q&A.
