PhD, Postdoctoral, and Research Internship Opportunities — Hao Sheng Lab, Westlake University
Hao Sheng will join the School of Engineering at Westlake University as an Assistant Professor in 2027, where he will establish the Adaptive Bioelectronics Laboratory.
The laboratory is recruiting PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and research interns to join in Fall 2027 or later. Applicants with backgrounds in electrical engineering, neuroscience, mechanics, materials science, computer science, artificial intelligence, biology, and related fields are welcome.
Research focus
The laboratory will develop bioelectronic technologies that adapt to tissue development and remodeling. By combining electrophysiology, molecular measurements, and artificial intelligence, the team aims to understand the connections among cellular activity, molecular identity, and tissue function, and to develop biologically informed approaches to precision modulation.
Life evolves. So do our tools.

The laboratory also welcomes connections and collaborations across disciplines.
Postdoctoral Positions — Shan Meltzer Lab, Vanderbilt University
The Shan Meltzer Lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Vanderbilt Brain Institute at Vanderbilt University is recruiting multiple postdoctoral researchers in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
Research focus
The laboratory investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying the development and function of the mammalian somatosensory system: how sensory neurons acquire their distinctive morphologies, assemble functional end organs with target cells in the skin, and establish precise touch and pain circuits.
Its approaches combine single-cell spatial transcriptomics, two-photon imaging, mouse genetics, electrophysiology, optogenetics and chemogenetics, and somatosensory behavioral assays. This research aims to provide a foundation for understanding nerve injury, pain, and somatosensory dysfunction.
About the principal investigator and laboratory
Shan Meltzer is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and an HHMI Hanna H. Gray Faculty Fellow, with affiliations at the Vanderbilt Brain Institute and the Center for Computational Systems Biology. She completed undergraduate studies at Peking University, doctoral training in neuroscience with Yuh Nung Jan at UCSF, and postdoctoral training with David Ginty at Harvard Medical School.
Her first-author publications include work in Neuron, PNAS, and Cell Reports. Honors and funding listed in the supplied announcement include the HHMI Hanna H. Gray Fellowship, a 2026 Sloan Research Fellowship, an Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation Grant (2025–2028), and NIH and NSF fellowships.
The laboratory reports strong funding support and an open, inclusive environment, with an emphasis on collaboration, communication, and members’ long-term development. Vanderbilt offers an interdisciplinary neuroscience community with seminars and opportunities for scientific exchange.
